Start with the question underneath yours
The printing time is not what decides whether you can travel. The six-month rule is.
Many destinations require a passport to be valid for a set period beyond your date of entry, commonly six months, and airlines enforce it at check-in before any immigration officer sees you. So a passport with four months left is, for a large number of destinations, already unusable, whatever the renewal takes.

What we can and cannot tell you about delivery time

That is a statement about our retrieval on that date. It is not a claim that the Department of Immigration and Passports publishes nothing, and it is not a suggestion that anyone is withholding anything. The DIP is the authority on its own delivery times and its own site is where the current figures live.
Why we are being this careful: the delivery times quoted across the internet on this subject differ substantially from each other, none of them cites a source, and a wrong number here costs a reader a trip. A page that admits it could not verify is more useful than one that repeats a figure confidently.
The three variables that actually move the timeline
Independent of any published figure, these are the things that differ between two people applying on the same day.
Which service category you choose. The e-passport system offers more than one delivery speed at different fees. The faster categories cost more and the fee schedule is published by DIP.
Whether your documents are consistent. This is the largest avoidable delay and it is entirely in your control before you apply. A mismatch between your national identity card, your birth registration and your existing passport is the thing that stops an application in its tracks, and it has its own page on this site.
Where you apply. Regional offices differ in volume, and applications from abroad through a mission run on a different path from applications inside Bangladesh.
What renewal actually involves
A renewal is a fresh e-passport application. It is not an extension stamped into your existing book, and the older idea of extending a passport does not apply to the e-passport system.
The broad shape, and each step’s current detail belongs to DIP rather than to this page:
The online application. Completed on the official e-passport portal, which produces an application form and a summary to print.
The fee. Paid through the channels DIP names, with the receipt kept.
The appointment and the biometric enrollment. In person, for photograph, fingerprints and iris capture. This is why renewal cannot be done entirely by post or entirely online, and it is the step people plan around badly.
Submission of the supporting documents, which is where consistency matters.
Delivery, collected in person or through the route DIP specifies.
Your old passport. Renewals generally involve surrendering the previous book, and if it holds a valid visa that matters to you, that is a question to raise before you hand it over rather than after. The mission that issued the visa is the authority on whether it can be transferred or must be reapplied for.
The timing rule worth using instead of a delivery estimate
Work backwards from the trip, not forwards from the application.
Count the validity your destination requires beyond your entry date. Add the time you need the passport in hand before departure for visa applications, because many visa applications require you to surrender the passport for a period, and you cannot apply for a visa with a passport that is at DIP.
That last point is what catches people. A renewal and a visa application both want your passport and they cannot both have it. The order is renewal first, visa second, and the total time is the sum of both rather than the longer of them.

Move the trip. Cheapest, least pleasant.
Use a faster service category if one is available for your case, at the published fee.
Ask DIP directly what applies to your circumstances. They are the authority, and the answer to “what applies to me” has never been available from a website.
