These are the internal standards we follow when creating content for Travel Tell. While our Editorial Policy explains how we ensure trustworthiness to readers, this page explains the practical guidelines our writers and contributors follow when producing an article—from research to tone to publishing.
Travel Tell was founded by Ramon Bass, and our mission is to publish accurate, practical, and trustworthy travel content that helps readers make informed travel decisions.
Who This Applies To
These guidelines apply to all content published on Travel Tell, whether written by our editorial team, Founder Ramon Bass, or approved guest contributors. Anyone writing for Travel Tell is expected to follow these standards before a piece is submitted for review.
1. Content Must Be Genuinely Useful
Before writing, every article should answer one question: What will a reader be able to do after reading this that they couldn’t do before?
Content that only exists to target a keyword, without giving the reader practical value, does not meet our publishing standards.
- Prioritize actionable details (costs, timing, logistics) over generic inspiration.
- Avoid filler sentences that increase word count without adding value.
- If a topic has already been covered on Travel Tell, expand upon it or link to the existing article instead of duplicating content.
2. Accuracy & Sourcing
- Base travel information on firsthand experience whenever possible, or on official tourism boards, government travel advisories, airline and transportation authorities, and other reputable travel sources.
- Never present rumors or unverified information as fact.
- Clearly identify time-sensitive information such as visa rules, prices, and entry requirements, and encourage readers to verify them with official sources.
- Cross-check important facts, prices, distances, and opening hours before publication.
3. Voice & Tone
Travel Tell’s tone is practical, honest, and conversational—like advice from a well-traveled friend rather than a marketing brochure.
- Write in the first person (“I” or “we”) when sharing genuine personal experiences.
- Avoid overused travel clichés unless they are supported by specific examples.
- Be honest when something is overpriced, overrated, or not worth recommending.
- Keep language simple, natural, and easy to understand.
4. Structure & Formatting
- Begin every article by explaining what readers will learn and who the guide is for.
- Use descriptive headings to improve readability.
- Break up long sections with bullet points, numbered lists, and short paragraphs.
- Include practical information whenever possible, such as transportation, estimated costs, addresses, and timelines.
- End with a helpful summary or next step for readers.
5. Images & Media
- Use original photographs whenever possible.
- When original images are unavailable, only use properly licensed or royalty-free images.
- Never publish copyrighted images without permission.
- Add descriptive alt text to every image for accessibility and SEO.
6. SEO Practices
We write for people first and search engines second.
- Use keywords naturally throughout the article.
- Avoid keyword stuffing.
- Write accurate titles and meta descriptions.
- Link to relevant Travel Tell articles where appropriate to improve the reader experience.
7. Originality
- Every article must be original and created specifically for Travel Tell.
- Do not copy or closely paraphrase content from other websites.
- When referencing external information, rewrite it in our own words and provide attribution where appropriate.
8. Disclosure & Transparency
- Clearly disclose affiliate links, sponsored content, and paid partnerships.
- Personal opinions should always be presented as opinions rather than universal facts.
- Writers must disclose complimentary trips, accommodations, or other benefits received.
9. Review Process
Before publication, each article is reviewed for:
- Accuracy and up-to-date information
- Grammar and readability
- Formatting and SEO best practices
- Proper image licensing and alt text
- Compliance with disclosure and affiliate policies
Articles that do not meet these standards are revised before publication.
10. Guest Contributions
Travel Tell welcomes high-quality guest contributions that provide genuine value to travelers.
Guest contributors must follow all editorial guidelines outlined on this page. Every submission is reviewed by Founder & Editor Ramon Bass and may be edited for clarity, accuracy, SEO, and consistency with Travel Tell’s editorial standards before publication.
If you would like to contribute an article, please send a brief pitch before writing the full piece.
